Join us for a relaxing and meaningful away retreat in beautiful and peaceful Lake Arrowhead. During meditation retreat we take ourselves away from our usual routines and distractions, and learn how to go inside and connect with the boundless potential our our own mind. This retreat will enable us to immerse fully in our spiritual practice, providing a meaningful holiday with like-minded friends in a serene and rejuvenating atmosphere.

Awakening the Heart: Transformation Through Loving Kindness

In this annual weekend away retreat, we will emphasize cultivation the precious mind of affectionate love, the foundational realization at the heart of the Mahayana Buddhist path to enlightenment. Through training in these special meditations, you will increasingly feel very close, warm and happy towards others, thereby opening your heart and improving your relationships with others.

Retreat Schedule.

Starting with an introduction on Thursday evening and finishing with lunch on Sunday, the weekend will include teachings as well as plenty of time for meditation and relaxation. Please register early to guarantee a space.

About the Teacher:

Gen Kelsang Rigpa is an American Buddhist monk, the Western United States National Spiritual Director of the New Kadampa Tradition, and the Resident Teacher of KMC-Hollywood.

The Location:

Nestled in the stunningly beautiful and majestic mountains of the San Bernardino National Forest, “The Alps of Southern California”, Lake Arrowhead offers an ideal, picturesque setting for meditation retreat. Within the beauty of nature – the striking scenery, wildlife, and fresh air of the mountains – find peace and meaning on this joyful and tranquil weekend retreat. (About a 90 min. drive from Los Angeles.)

**Price includes accommodation for 4 nights, vegetarian meals and all retreat sessions.

In order to get the most out of your retreat, please read, and memorize the italicized meditations, in The Oral Instructions of Mahamudra, “How to Practice Affectionate Love” p. 15-16.

We will be using Prayers for Meditation, Long Life Prayers and Wishfulfilling Jewel sadhanas.  We will have a limited number of copies on hand.  Please bring your personal sadhanas if you have them and if you need them.

Gen Kelsang Rigpa

Resident Teacher and Western US National Spiritual Director. Gen Kelsang Rigpa is an American Buddhist monk, the Western US National Spiritual Director and the Resident Teacher at KMC-Hollywood. He is a close disciple of Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, having received lineage blessings and oral transmissions directly from him. Gen Rigpa’s heartfelt and practical teachings are presented with warmth and humor, making them accessible to everyone. He shows the joy of living a spiritual life, and is an inspiring example of Buddhism in practice. Through his clear presentation, he is able to help student discover for themselves how to integrate these timeless teachings into our modern world, making everyday life joyful and meaningful.
